Shopify development for DTC brands

Shopify store setup, Online Store 2.0 theme customization and migrations, with fewer apps and product pages your team can update in the theme editor.

Every Shopify project is quoted in USD, in a written proposal, before work begins.

Our approach

Shopify development that keeps the theme in charge

Shopify runs the servers, security and checkout for you. How well a store sells depends on everything around that: the theme, how products and collections are organized, and the apps installed on top.

We work in Online Store 2.0 themes and add custom sections and blocks in Liquid, so your team can build and reorder pages in the theme editor on their own.

Details that do not fit Shopify’s standard product fields, such as materials, ingredients or size charts, are stored in metafields and appear in the same spot on every product page.

Every app you install can add scripts to your storefront and a line to your monthly bill. Before recommending one, we check whether a theme section or a metafield can do the same job.

Signs your store needs a Shopify developer

Shopify stores rarely go down. They get heavier instead: an app for one thing, a pasted snippet for another, until the theme is hard to change and pages drag.

Focused Shopify development tidies up the theme and settings, then builds in the features you have been paying apps for.

  • Apps you uninstalled still leave code in the theme
  • Product pages cannot show the details customers ask about
  • Collections are one long list with no useful filters
  • You want to start selling in other countries or currencies
  • Your theme was built before Online Store 2.0

Our process

How a Shopify development project runs

Your proposal lists each milestone and what you approve at every one.

  1. Kickoff call

Your products, markets, current platform, installed apps and the jobs your team does in Shopify each day.

  2. Proposal in USD

Theme work, apps, data import and integrations scoped in writing, with a timeline and a price.

  3. Catalog plan

Collections, metafields and navigation mapped, and your product data prepared for import.

  4. Draft theme build

All work happens on an unpublished copy of the theme, so your live store keeps selling.

  5. Checkout testing

Payments, shipping, taxes and each market checked with test orders before anything goes live.

  6. Publish and train

Redirects added, the theme published and your team shown how to use sections and metafields.

Behind the product page

From the Shopify admin to a finished product page

What happens when your team adds a product to a store we build.

Customers only see the finished product page. The consistency comes from the structure underneath it.

Once that structure is set, each new product drops into the same layout with no extra design work.

  1. Add the product

Title, price, variants and photos go in through the normal Shopify admin.

  2. Fill the metafields

Materials, care notes or a size chart go into labeled fields rather than the description box.

  3. Collections sort it

Automated collection rules place the product in the right collections and filters straight away.

  4. The theme renders it

Liquid templates pull everything into a product page that matches the rest of the store.

Enter a product once and let the theme handle the layout.

FAQs

Shopify development FAQs

Want an opinion on your own store? Ask us directly.

How much does Shopify development cost?

It depends on the job. Theme customization, a full Shopify store setup and a migration from another platform are priced differently, and each is quoted individually in USD in a written proposal. Your Shopify plan, any paid theme and app subscriptions are billed separately through your Shopify account.

Can you customize my current Shopify theme?

Yes. If the theme supports Online Store 2.0, we add custom sections, blocks and Liquid templates without replacing it. Older themes can be edited as well, though moving to a 2.0 theme is often the better use of budget, and the proposal explains why.

Do I need a Shopify developer, or are apps enough?

Apps are the right answer for features Shopify cannot do on its own. Trouble starts when several apps overlap or leave code behind after removal. Moving simple features into the theme keeps the storefront lighter and can cut monthly app fees.

Can you migrate my store from WooCommerce to Shopify?

Yes. Products, variants, images and customers are imported, and old product, category and page URLs are redirected to their new Shopify addresses at launch. Order history can often come across too, depending on the data and tools available.

What are Shopify metafields used for?

Metafields store extra information on products, collections and other records, such as dimensions, ingredients or a size chart. The theme shows them in a fixed place on every page, so product pages stay consistent without long, hand-formatted descriptions.

Can my Shopify store sell in other countries and currencies?

Yes, through Shopify Markets, which handles currencies, languages, domains and pricing per market. We set up the markets you choose and test checkout in each one. Decisions on duties and tax stay with you and your accountant.

What support do you offer after a Shopify launch?

You can reach us Saturday to Thursday, with replies within one business day. Ongoing fixes, theme updates and small changes are covered by an optional eCommerce maintenance plan, agreed separately from the build.
